Images (book 1), Debussy
was a solo performance in collaboration with pianist Jason Gong, supported by Guildhall School of Music and Drama and performed at the Barbican Centre, London.
The solo itself is an improvised score, with particular musical motifs that were expressed through live music (by Jason Gong), movement and performed through improvisation. As collaborators, we wanted to explore a visual representation of what the piano suite may look like, through the lens of Impressionism.
Like the music, the movement moves through three pieces with varying textures and ideas, whilst maintaining and embodying the shimmering nature that is captured by the piano suite and the Impressionist Era.
